Summary

In January 1958, a young jet mechanic at Yokota, Japan, reported five distinct sightings of unidentified flying objects over a three-hour period. The objects displayed a variety of shapes and colors, from a bright red object resembling a welding torch to a yellow ball trailing sparks. Although initially considered a missile possibility, investigators concluded the objects were likely meteors. The report notes that Earth was entering the Quadrantids meteor shower, which could explain the sightings. The witness described in detail the shapes, colors, and trajectories of the objects, and although there were no other witnesses present, his descriptions were consistent and detailed.
