🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1958, two teenagers in Great Neck, New York, observed an egg-shaped object the size of a basketball, red with a smoke trail and a whistling sound. They watched it for 10 minutes, though they only looked through a 350-power telescope for one minute. The object was moving northwest and was classified as insufficient for a clear evaluation.
The official conclusion was that it was likely a conventional object misinterpreted by the active imagination of the witnesses. Investigators considered the flight path and the description of the whistle and smoke trail consistent with a balloon. Despite the telescope observation, the object was not considered a UFO, but rather a common object misperceived.
