🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1958, a witness in Victoria, Texas, observed a round, silver object that shimmered in the sunlight. The object remained practically stationary in the sky for 30 minutes, showing no distinctive features. Although the observer did not use optical aids, they described its appearance and movement in detail. Weather data indicated strong winds at high altitudes, consistent with a balloon.
The official conclusion of the report suggested the object was likely a balloon, given its appearance and behavior. There were no photographs or radar involved, and the witness, a 45-year-old service station operator, stopped observing to attend to work. Despite the simplicity of the description, the weather data and object movement matched what would be expected from a weather balloon.
