🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1958, a witness in Hortense, Georgia, described an unidentified flying object that appeared to be a glider or a large-scale model. The object, seen at low altitude, was descending smoothly without an engine or propeller, which confused the observers. It was estimated to be traveling at about 100 mph and had metallic objects under its wings. Despite the lack of noise and conventional features, officials concluded it was likely a glider.
The witness's letter was reviewed by Air Force officers, who found no radar records or additional reports in the area. Although not definitively identified, the flight characteristics and appearance of the object matched those of a glider. The official report noted no anomalies in the area, supporting the theory of a conventional object. The witness, intrigued by the unusual nature of the object, described details such as its grayish color and absence of noise, adding mystery to the sighting.
