🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1958, a witness in Tower City, Pennsylvania, reported a round, bright object moving from east to west with a greenish to reddish white color. The observer described it as a meteorite, and the report concluded that it indeed was one. The object was seen for 3 to 6 seconds from the ground using binoculars, and its descending path appeared to head toward a hill. The description, flight pattern, and characteristics matched those of a typical meteorite, leading investigators to rule out other explanations like balloons or aircraft.
The report, under Project 10073, was reviewed by both civilian and military personnel and recorded as a ground visual observation. Although no photos were taken, weather data and the exact location of the sighting helped confirm the nature of the event. This case is a classic example of how UFO reports often align with natural phenomena that, upon analysis, turn out to be explainable.
