🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1958, a witness in Calliente, Nevada, observed a white, round object the size of a grapefruit for about 15 minutes. The object made no noise and left no trail, which created some confusion about its nature. Although the possibility of a weather balloon was mentioned, there was not enough information to confirm it. The lack of wind data, exact direction, or noise made it difficult to evaluate the case. The report suggests it could have been a balloon, but no definitive conclusion could be reached.
The testimony came through a civilian and was passed to military authorities, including the 750th ACW. Despite details such as the estimated altitude and slow movement of the object being recorded, there were no precise measurements or additional instruments to help identify it. This case, like many others from the Cold War era, was filed without a definitive conclusion, but remains an example of how UFO reports were handled at the time.
