Summary

In March 1958, fishermen off the coast of Taichung, Taiwan, found a strange object floating in the sea. Made of plastic, rubber, and metal, it had no clear function and was handed over to the Nationalist Chinese Air Force. While investigators could not determine its exact purpose, it was speculated to be a valve or a floating device. The U.S. Air Force considered it possibly a balloon, but did not rule out the possibility of fraud or an object with no obvious use.

The official evaluation concluded that there was not enough information to identify the object with certainty. It was noted that the object had features suggesting it could be a float or valve mechanism, but it was also considered that it might be a deliberate hoax. Despite photos and analysis, the mystery remained. The case was filed without a definitive resolution, though it recommended further investigation of any similar future discoveries.
