🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1958, an object was observed over Tampa, Florida, during dusk. Witnesses described it as an inverted pear shape, changing color from white to reddish-orange. The object remained stationary for 30 minutes. Although initially intriguing, investigators concluded it could be a high-altitude balloon with sunlight reflecting off its surface. The visual description and behavior matched known patterns of weather balloons.
The official evaluation ruled out aircraft and astronomical phenomena, and other possibilities were discarded due to lack of conclusive evidence. The report noted that the reliable military observer saw the object through scattered clouds, which might have altered the visual perception. Despite discrepancies in the collected data, the balloon hypothesis remained the most plausible.
