🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A blue and white ball-shaped object was sighted in Great Bend, Kansas, on March 24, 1958. The witness, a member of the sheriff's department, observed it for 5-7 seconds before it vanished toward the southeast. The object emitted a flash and was classified as likely a meteor. Despite the brief observation, the testimony was considered sufficient to rule out conventional explanations like balloons or aircraft.
The information was passed to the Lowry AFB Flight Service Center and other military agencies for analysis. Although no photos were taken, the report includes data on the trajectory and exact time of the sighting. The object showed no signs of a trail or noise, supporting the meteor hypothesis. However, the exact nature of the phenomenon remains a mystery to many researchers.
