🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1958, a U.S. Air Force pilot reported a red object with a greenish glow moving rapidly across the sky. The sighting occurred near Carrollton, Missouri, and was classified as a possible meteor. The pilot described a bright light trailing from the object, moving in a clear path from northeast to southwest. Although the object quickly disappeared into the clouds, the report concluded it could be a bolide, a space rock burning up in the atmosphere.
The report, part of Project 10073, includes data such as the exact time of the sighting, location, and weather conditions. The pilot did not manage to photograph the object, but his observations were detailed and consistent with astronomical phenomena. Despite the brief nature of the sighting (just a few seconds), the report suggests the object did not display characteristics of an aircraft or balloon, supporting the meteor hypothesis. However, the lack of images or additional data left open the possibility of an unidentified phenomenon.
