🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1958, a civilian in Miami reported seeing a green flare over the bay, which initially caused some concern. However, minutes later, a control tower operator at the airport confirmed having observed a meteor in the east. The coincidence in timing and the description of the phenomenon convinced investigators that it was a common meteorite, not an unidentified object. The brevity of the sighting and the lack of photographs or additional data reinforced this conclusion.
A second incident occurred at the end of the same month, when a bright light was seen moving in a semi-circular arc toward the southwest. Although initially thought to be an aircraft, later analysis pointed to a meteor at high altitude. Reports from the Coast Guard and other witnesses agreed that it was not an artificial object, and the possibility of a balloon or UFO was dismissed. Despite the prolonged duration of the sighting, experts concluded it was a normal astronomical phenomenon.
