Summary

In April 1958, an unidentified object was found on the ground near Cuzick, Kentucky. It resembled a missile nose cone, made of a bakelite-like material, and had a kind of tape attached. The object was initially classified as "Practice Shelf", meaning it was considered a training artifact, but the possibility of an unknown origin was not ruled out. Military authorities examined it and concluded it was not of aerial or astronomical nature, but they could not identify it with certainty. Photos of the object were taken and archived, though no definitive conclusion was reached.

The case gained more attention when a General Electric employee, whose father had found the object, brought it to Ohio and reported it. The Air Force requested additional information and photographs, but no clear explanation emerged. Eventually, it was decided that a materials analysis would not be useful without prior identification of the object. Although it was considered a potential ordnance component, no confirmation was found. The case was closed without a conclusive resolution, leaving open the possibility that the object was of non-conventional origin.
