🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A pilot and his crew observed a luminous object with a black smoke trail that mysteriously faded away. The object, 22 meters in diameter, was seen for 10 minutes during flight. Initially thought to be an RB-66, the object's shape and the crew's maneuvers to view it from different angles raised doubts. The crew, qualified and experienced, described it as a bright, puffy cloud followed by a dark trail. The hazy and cloudy atmosphere made identification difficult. Despite adverse conditions, the pilot maneuvered to ensure all crew members could see the object, reinforcing the credibility of the sighting.
The official conclusion pointed to an aircraft, but other possibilities weren't ruled out. The black smoke and unusual shape sparked debates about possible meteorological phenomena or unusual reflections. Although precise data on location and time was recorded, the lack of photos and low visibility complicated analysis. This case, like many from the Cold War era, reflects the confusion and mystery surrounding UFO sightings at the time.
