In May 1958, a man and his son in Florida observed a long, cigar-shaped object the size of a basketball. The object changed color from a dull orange to a glaring white as it moved. It had a broad rear and a tapering front with a spotlight. When they shone their flashlight on it, the object made a steep vertical climb and vanished. The official report concluded there was insufficient data to evaluate the phenomenon.

The sighting occurred at 5 a.m. in a swampy area near Belle Glade. Although a large bird like a crane was considered, the detailed description and behavior of the object did not match this explanation.
