In May 1958, a woman in Illinois reported seeing a bright bullet-shaped object with a golden shimmer, while driving. The object, about the size of a quarter, was observed for a few minutes. The Air Force investigated and concluded it could be a weather balloon, an optical illusion caused by sunlight refraction, or even a Soviet satellite. The witness mentioned she was driving toward the sun, increasing the likelihood of an optical illusion. Despite investigations, no conclusive evidence of an unidentified object was found, and no aerial activity was recorded in the area at the same time.
