Summary

In May 1958, an unusual object was found near Frenchman's Bayou, Arkansas. It was a rock weighing approximately 40 pounds, of a type not native to the area. The landowner turned it over to a representative of the local air base, who sent it for analysis. However, the object was accidentally discarded before it could be examined. It was confirmed to be non-magnetic, suggesting it was a common rock. Despite this, the incident generated interest as it could have been material from outer space.

Years later, in 1958, it was discovered that the object had been discarded by mistake. An effort was initiated to recover it, as the Air Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC) considered it potentially valuable for the Air Force. Although the object was not recovered, the case illustrates how even seemingly ordinary objects could generate interest during the UFO study era. The delayed communication between authorities reflected the importance placed on scientific research at that time.
