🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1958, an observer in Denver, Colorado, spotted an unusual object in the sky. The object was described as round, about the size of a pea at arm's length, with a tail ranging from orange to bluish green. It was seen at 45 degrees above the horizon and appeared to burn out after about 10 to 12 seconds. Despite its strange appearance, investigators concluded it was a meteor, given the presence of a tail and its observed behavior. The report also noted a possible connection to a balloon released near the time of the sighting, though this was not confirmed.
The case was quickly evaluated and classified as an astronomical phenomenon, which did not diminish the observer's surprise. The object's unusual description and oscillating flight path caused some confusion, but there was not enough evidence to consider it an unidentified object. Nevertheless, the experience remains a curious account from the golden age of UFO sightings.
