🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1958, a housewife in Nunica, Michigan, reported an object that appeared as a white streak of light near the horizon. The incident occurred around 2:45 AM on May 27, and the object moved from west to east for one or two seconds. Notably, at the same time, the sound of escaping air and an odor resembling automobile exhaust gas were noted. Although no photos were taken, the official report concluded there was insufficient information to determine if it was a balloon, aircraft, or astronomical phenomenon. The case was reviewed by several air intelligence units, but ultimately deemed lacking in data for a definitive evaluation. The mystery remains, but natural or weather balloon explanations were not ruled out.
