In June 1958, a civilian in Dayton, Ohio, reported a reddish object resembling a star in the night sky. The witness described a round, bright light, the size of a pinhead, moving westward. The observation lasted about 1½ minutes and no sound was heard. Although the initial report suggested it might be a jet with afterburner in short operation, there was no confirmation of flights in the area at that time.
