In June 1958, a witness in Las Cruces, New Mexico, observed a round object the size of a quarter. One observer described it as pinkish-red, while another saw it as white. The object had a very long tail, and according to the report, a part broke away from the main body. The sighting lasted 20 seconds and was considered possibly a meteor.
The report classifies the event as "possibly astronomical," suggesting a natural phenomenon was not ruled out. Although no photos were taken, two civilian witnesses confirmed the description. The object moved south at low altitude and disappeared from view.
