🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1958, a police officer in Pecos, Texas, observed an object for 50 minutes. The object was round, the size of a dime, and changed color between white, red, and bright orange. It moved from east to south, then to north and east, and finally ascended vertically. Although initially considered a jet aircraft, astronomical data indicated that Venus was in a position matching the sighting. This suggested the object could have been Venus, though its behavior was atypical.
The official evaluation concluded the object was probably astronomical, identifying it as Venus. However, the description of movement and color change caused some confusion. The lack of photographs and reliance on a visual observation limited researchers' ability to confirm the object's nature with certainty. Despite this, the report suggested the sighting was consistent with Venus in the sky, though other explanations were not ruled out.
