🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1958, a high-ranking USAF officer observed a bright, small object above Knoxville, Tennessee, during an electrical storm. The report details that the object, described as slightly smaller than a pencil and intensely white, left no trail or sound. The observer, a major general, saw the phenomenon for 2 to 3 seconds while flying a T-29 at 12,000 feet. Although initially considered a meteorite or a falling satellite, later analyses found no conventional explanations. The lack of additional data and the ephemeral nature of the event led to its classification as likely astronomical.
The official investigation concluded there was no evidence of an unidentified object, but the report highlighted the observer's reliability and the impossibility of completely ruling out rare natural phenomena. The case was closed without resolution, but remains an example of how the military evaluated UFO sightings in the 1950s.
