🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1958, a KLM pilot reported a bright object over the central Atlantic. The sighting occurred at 02:17 UTC, when the pilot described a circular, bright object smaller than Venus. The object split into three parts and then disintegrated, leaving a trail of 90 to 100 miles. Although a meteor was considered, the description was not conclusive.
The initial report lacked photos or radar data, limiting analysis. It was noted that the phenomenon could be typical of a fireball, but balloon or aircraft possibilities were not ruled out. The lack of detailed information kept the case in a state of "insufficient data for evaluation," meaning no definitive conclusion was reached.
