🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1958, a witness in Nome, Alaska, reported a luminous object shaped like a ball with an orange-red color, resembling a meteor. The object, the size of a basketball, had a blue tail estimated to be 25 feet long and was observed for just a few seconds. Although the possibility of a balloon or aircraft was considered, investigators concluded it was an astronomical phenomenon. The witness's description aligned with typical meteor characteristics. The official report classified it as a meteor, noting that the object did not display any anomalous features suggesting an extraterrestrial origin. The reliability of the Inuit witness was considered questionable based on previous experiences, but the description matched a true meteor.
