🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1958, Uruguay witnessed an unusual aerial phenomenon that captured the attention of multiple observers. A luminous object was seen in several locations, from Rocha to Soriano, and generated significant public interest. Witnesses reported a spherical, self-luminous object that illuminated the surroundings at great distances. Although sounds similar to explosions were mentioned, no clear explanation was given. The case was investigated by a local committee, which concluded that the object was not a natural phenomenon like a meteorite or a conventional event, and that it presented characteristics making it difficult to classify. The presence of multiple witnesses and the description of intelligent maneuvers suggest that the object was not conventional.
The report details that the object was observed at different times, at 14:30 and 20:30, and even commercial pilots reported its presence. Despite investigations, no definitive conclusion was reached. Possibilities such as balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena were considered, but none fit completely. The committee highlighted that the object showed color changes and emitted strange sounds, making it unique and hard to understand. The case was filed as an unidentified phenomenon, with characteristics similar to unidentified flying object reports during World War II.
