Summary

A witness in Portland, Oregon, observed nine objects shaped like inverted shallow bowls, approximately the size of a Piper Cub, in a V formation. The objects had two rims, one on top and another halfway down. The witness, a 38-year-old school custodian, saw the formation break and reorganize, making a sharp turn and increasing speed before disappearing in 3-4 seconds. The total observation lasted 20-25 seconds. Despite the detailed description, no plausible conventional cause was found.

The final evaluation concluded the objects were likely aircraft. It was noted that slender aircraft with thin wings can appear as wingless objects against a dark sky. Additionally, the flight path matched a known airway. The Portland air base confirmed there was a jet formation training in the area on that date, though no unusual sightings were reported.
