Summary

A round object the size of a grapefruit was observed in Alexandria, Louisiana, on July 25, 1958. The witness, Lieutenant CLEMIS A. BAILEY, along with a civilian, described an object that changed color from red to white, leaving an intermittent trail resembling sparks. The object moved from east to northeast for three minutes before fading out. Although the investigating officer considered it could be aircraft navigation lights, no definitive conclusion was reached. The weather conditions were clear, with no storms or unusual weather reported, making it difficult to identify the object.

The observation was made at dusk, at an elevation of about 30 degrees, without optical aid. The exact location was within city limits, and the officer noted the witness was a qualified observer due to his experience as a pilot. Despite several night flights being reported in the area, it could not be confirmed with certainty whether the object was an aircraft. The report concluded it was likely an aircraft, but insufficient data prevented a conclusive evaluation.
