🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1958, a shiny object was spotted in the sky over New Jersey, moving from northwest to southeast. A witness described it as round and shiny, and the observation lasted about 25 minutes. Although no photos were taken, the report noted that a weather balloon was seen in the same direction and time. Prevailing winds also pointed southeast, supporting the conclusion that the object was not an aircraft or astronomical phenomenon, but a balloon.
The match between the object’s direction and the balloon’s path, along with weather data, led investigators to classify the sighting as definitely a balloon. This case is an example of how UFO reports are often resolved by ruling out other possibilities and finding a conventional explanation.
