Summary

In August 1958, a couple in New York observed an unusual aerial phenomenon: four bright green flashes that crossed the sky from east to west in just a few seconds. The witness described the flashes appearing at regular intervals of one second, with such speed that no sound was heard. The object appeared the size of a traffic light and did not match landing lights or low-flying jets. Despite additional witnesses confirming searchlights in the sky, the official investigation concluded there was insufficient data to evaluate the case.

The letter was recorded as part of Project 10073, an Air Force initiative to collect reports of unidentified aerial phenomena. Although no other matching testimonies were found in the area and date, the report was archived for future study. The official response to the witness was polite, thanking her for the report and noting no other similar cases were found. The mystery remains: what caused those green flashes in the New York sky?
