🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1958, a witness in Ponca City, Oklahoma, reported a red and orange object resembling a basketball. The object had small light protrusions similar to a July 4th sparkler and emitted a buzzing sound that varied in intensity as it moved closer or farther away. The object suddenly disappeared upward at tremendous speed. Although balloon or aircraft explanations were considered, no definitive conclusion was reached due to lack of information.
The report includes testimonies from two witnesses, an adult and a child, who described the phenomenon in detail. Common astronomical explanations like Jupiter or Venus were ruled out, and although Altair was mentioned as a possible cause, it was not confirmed. The lack of photographs or additional data hindered analysis. The officer in charge concluded the report constituted a valid unidentified flying object, but its nature could not be determined.
