In August 1958, a witness in Marlboro, New York, observed a white star-like object. The object, the size of a quarter, moved slowly and steadily toward the south. Although initially considered a possible searchlight from a local fair, the lack of erratic movements and the consistent flight duration made an aircraft more likely. The low ceiling and clear visibility also supported this interpretation.
The official report noted that the object did not display typical characteristics of a balloon or astronomical phenomenon. Despite no photos being taken, the single witness provided a detailed and coherent account. Ultimately, the most plausible conclusion was an aircraft, though the unusual nature of the flight left room for some uncertainty.
