In August 1958, a civilian observer near Las Vegas reported a bright orange object that appeared to be the size of a grapefruit. The object suddenly appeared in an area with no roads or known light sources. The witness saw it slowly move to the left, approach the height of trees, and then return to its original position, repeating the motion before disappearing. Despite the initial report suggesting it could be a conventional object, such as a light, no physical evidence or clear explanations were found.
The official report classified it as "other" and did not consider it a supernatural or unknown phenomenon. It noted that weather conditions included thunderstorms and that there were no signs of unusual aerial activity in the area. However, the report also mentioned that the observer might have seen a conventional light that they were unaware of, suggesting a possible misinterpretation of the event.
