🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A witness in Newburgh, New York, reported a star-shaped, blue-white object moving east to west with a sharp turn northward. The dime-sized object appeared suddenly and vanished after ten seconds. The observer, who had previously reported similar phenomena, did not provide elevation or azimuth data. Weather conditions included haze and thunderstorms, complicating identification.
Investigators concluded it was likely an aircraft, as three jet planes were in the area. Although the witness claimed clear weather, meteorological reports indicated haze and partial cloud cover. The brief sighting and lack of photographs or precise data made a definitive evaluation difficult, but it was considered that the observer might have seen an aircraft's lights.
