🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A civilian observer in Detroit, Michigan, reported an unidentified flying object on August 17, 1958. The object was described as red with a bluish-white hue, approximately the diameter of a pencil. It traveled straight south, blinking nearly once per second and displaying a halo twice its size. The witness observed it for 10 minutes without optical aids. Although balloon or astronomical explanations were considered, investigators concluded it was likely an aircraft with a broken or missing tail light lens. No physical evidence or photographs were obtained.
