🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1958, a UFO sighting was reported in St. George, Bermuda, with both civilian and military observers. A military airman and his neighbors saw a reddish-orange light in the sky, moving slowly up and down and pausing at times. The object was grapefruit-sized and moved northward at a speed faster than Mach 1. Despite excellent weather conditions, control towers failed to log the event. Another witness saw the same phenomenon shortly after midnight, suggesting the object was visible for several hours. The star Vega was in a position matching the observers' descriptions, but no clear explanation emerged.
The lack of photographic or radar evidence limited investigators' ability to determine the object's nature. Although balloons, aircraft, and astronomical phenomena were considered, no definitive conclusion was reached. The report was classified and later declassified decades later, showing the difficulty of the time in explaining this case. The fact that the same phenomenon was seen on two consecutive days adds mystery, and while stars like Vega and Arcturus were mentioned, the possibility of an unidentified object was not ruled out.
