🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1958, a witness in New York observed a white, circular object with speed trails. The sighting occurred at midnight under a clear sky while the witness was walking. The object appeared suddenly, with intense brightness and a straight trajectory from east to southeast. Although initially thought to be a meteorite, its size and behavior made it unique. The official report classified it as a probable fireball, though other natural explanations were not ruled out. The witness, a former commercial pilot, described the phenomenon in detail, adding credibility to the account.
The report includes drawings by the witness showing the object with two bright points at its ends, similar to aircraft speed trails. The sighting lasted briefly, between 1.5 and 2 seconds, limiting analytical capacity. Despite investigations, no definitive explanation was found, and the case was filed as a probable fireball. The Air Force requested the witness to complete a detailed questionnaire to improve evaluation, but the available information remained insufficient for a conclusive determination.
