🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A civilian observer reported two round objects east of Hastings, Michigan, in September 1958. The objects appeared like dimes, with a yellowish-red color, and moved back and forth, disappearing and reappearing without an apparent reason. The sighting, which lasted 15 minutes, was reported without photographs or radar data, limiting the precise evaluation of the phenomenon. Despite this, investigators concluded it was likely an astronomical body, possibly a star, whose movements seemed altered when viewed through binoculars.
The report was considered incomplete but sufficient to suggest an astronomical explanation. The observer did not provide positional data or explain how the objects disappeared. Nevertheless, the case was filed under "probably astronomical," highlighting the difficulty of interpreting celestial phenomena without more advanced tools. The testimony, though brief, shows how even in the 1950s, UFO reports were analyzed with care, albeit with technological limitations.
