🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A civilian observer described an object shaped like an upside-down dipper, about 3 feet square, with a 1.5-foot tail. He saw five lights outlining the object and heard a buzzing sound. The sighting lasted less than a minute and occurred in overcast weather. Although balloon or astronomical explanations were considered, investigators concluded it was likely a civilian aircraft. The object's description resembled Navy radar planes, often mistaken for flying saucers due to their large radar domes.
The sighting took place 2 miles south of Larson AFB, Washington. The report was reviewed by multiple military offices, including the Air Technical Intelligence Center. Despite no confirmation of aircraft in the area, the description aligned with a civilian plane. The report was filed as a probable aircraft, acknowledging that the lack of definitive confirmation justified its submission for further analysis.
