🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1958, a U.S. Air Force officer observed a series of luminous objects emerging from the ground and rising over the water near the city of Hopa, Turkey, from the deck of a ship. The objects appeared as bright red fireballs that split into clusters of six to nine units, visible for about four seconds before disappearing. This phenomenon occurred three times with thirty-second intervals, resembling fireworks. No sounds or aircraft were reported, adding mystery to the sighting. The exact location was near the Turkey-USSR border at 41°33'N 41°32'E.
The officer, who had visited the area seven times before, had never seen anything like this. Although tracers from heavy guns were considered, the repetitive nature and lack of sound didn't fully align with that explanation. The report concluded that no hypothesis could be ruled out with certainty, and it was recorded as part of a UFO investigation project. This observation, though unresolved, is part of a historical archive reflecting the curiosity and mystery surrounding UFO sightings during the Cold War.
