🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1958, a Dutch officer and a Spanish sailor reported a bright object with lighted porthole-like features and a short red tail. It emerged from clouds, maintained a steady course of 200 degrees for several seconds, and vanished without sound. Though considered a meteor, its low altitude and unusual behavior raised questions. The report was sent to U.S. Air Force authorities, who classified it as an astronomical phenomenon.
The report includes precise details such as the exact location and a clear description of the object, which showed no navigation lights or noise. The ship's captain, after consulting with the officer on duty, chose to send a copy of the report to the U.S. Air Force, as it could not be identified by radar or other means. Despite the brief sighting, witnesses agreed the object was large, fast, and did not match any known aircraft or natural phenomenon.
