Summary

In October 1953, a witness in Oblong, Illinois, observed an unusual aerial formation: a silver round object with a dark center surrounded by six smaller discs. Some of these discs separated from the group, disappeared, and reappeared minutes later, regrouping in the same formation. The phenomenon lasted about 10 minutes before fading. Although parhelia (sun halos) were mentioned as a possible explanation, no clear conclusion was reached. The official investigation deemed the data insufficient for a definitive evaluation.

Military records indicate the report was treated with some urgency, but no clues about the origin of the objects were found. The unusual formation and behavior of the discs, along with their unexpected reappearance, caused confusion among investigators. Despite favorable weather conditions and no reported flights in the area, the case remains unresolved, adding a touch of mystery to this past aerial event.
