🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A flight test pilot spotted a round green object, the size of a pinhead to a pea, falling straight down in Columbus, Ohio. The object moved vertically downward in a straight line and exploded upon hitting the ground with a white flash. The report classifies it as a meteor, though no photos were taken and there were no additional witnesses.
The sighting lasted only three seconds, limiting the amount of detail available. The pilot, who had flight experience, described the object as brighter than the night sky background. Although other possibilities like balloons or aircraft were considered, the final conclusion points to an astronomical phenomenon.
