🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1958, four separate sightings of an unidentified object were recorded near Troy Peak, Nevada. Radar data showed the object remained stationary at the same altitude throughout the day. Although no photos were taken, a weather balloon was visually observed in the area. Winds came from the west, and a temperature inversion was recorded at 60,000 feet. Investigators considered the possibility that the object was a weather balloon due to its movement resembling that of balloons drifting with high-altitude winds.
The official evaluation did not reach a definitive conclusion, but suggested the object might have been a weather balloon. Meteorological data and the object's movement matched what would be expected from a balloon. Despite the lack of conclusive physical evidence, the report suggests the most plausible explanation was natural, rather than supernatural or extraterrestrial.
