🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A radar at Montauk AFB recorded a mysterious object in 1958. The object appeared twice, one hour apart. The first time it climbed rapidly to 77,000 feet and then descended almost vertically to 50,000 feet. Radar data showed a small echo, about the size of a dime's edge. Despite investigations, the object remained unidentified. Weather balloons and known aircraft were ruled out. The report concluded there was insufficient data for a definitive evaluation.
Military officials reviewed the case years later but found no answers. The lack of precise data such as distance and elevation angles made analysis difficult. Although laboratories and other air bases were contacted, no one recognized the object. The phenomenon remains unexplained, a mystery in Air Force archives.
