🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1958, an experienced U.S. Air Force pilot observed an object in the sky near Iceland. The object had the size and brightness of a medium star and behaved unusually: it brightened for 15 seconds and then faded for another 15. The pilot and crew observed it for four minutes without detecting any sound, trail, or other typical features of an aircraft or rocket. The plane was at 30,000 feet and the sky was clear, making any conventional explanation difficult.
The official report did not reach a clear conclusion, though it mentioned the possibility that it was an Earth satellite. The pilot had experience in reconnaissance flights and had previously observed Sputnik I. Despite ideal observation conditions, there was no attempt at interception and no physical evidence. The mysterious object vanished without a trace, leaving many questions about its nature.
