🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In December 1953, an amateur astronomer in Vejle, Jutland, observed a very bright object moving from south to east. The sighting lasted three minutes and was reported as a possible satellite. Despite unfavorable weather conditions that prevented additional photographic or visual observations, the report concluded the object was a "satellite carrier." This document, classified under Project 10073, shows how U.S. authorities tracked sky sightings abroad to determine if they were space-related or natural or psychological phenomena.
The report also suggests the sighting could have been a psychological reaction to the presence of local space tracking observers. However, since the witness was an amateur astronomer, it was considered less likely he reported something fictional. Ultimately, the case was filed without a definitive evaluation, but with the conclusion that the observed object coincided with the expected passage of a satellite.
