🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1959, a luminous object was observed near Litschau, Czechoslovakia, crossing the Austrian border. The object rapidly ascended with a hissing noise, circled, and returned to Czech territory. Witnesses, including civil police, estimated its speed to be three times that of local fighter jets. Despite its unusual appearance, observers concluded it was a guided missile, as it did not resemble an aircraft or balloon. The sighting lasted two minutes, during which the object's round shape and rapid movement were noted.
The official evaluation did not contradict the witnesses' analysis, suggesting the report was deemed credible. At the time, guided missiles were an emerging technology, and their presence near the border could have caused confusion. The report, filed under Project 10073, was archived without further analysis, but its detailed description and alignment with known technology make it an intriguing case in UFO history.
