🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A witness in the Panama Canal Zone observed a luminous, cone-shaped object crossing the sky from east to west. The object was bright and iridescent, displaying a blend of white, yellow, and blue that gave it a fluorescent appearance. Despite its unusual look, investigators concluded it was likely a meteor. The sighting lasted about 12 seconds and no sound was heard, supporting the theory that it was an atmospheric phenomenon.
The description of the object, with its fan-shaped blue tail, initially caused some confusion, but meteorological data and the object's trajectory matched typical meteor characteristics. The exact location of the sighting was recorded halfway between Diablo Lock and Miraflores Lock, helping analysts rule out other possibilities. Although the report was submitted as a UFO sighting, the final evaluation classified it as a common astronomical event.
