🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1959, an unidentified aerial object was spotted over Alaska and identified as a balloon approximately 50 feet in diameter with a box suspended below it. Military pilots chased and fired at it, but failed to recover it. The balloon had a milky, clear appearance and was observed at high altitudes. Although it was shot down, the exact location of its fall could not be determined due to darkness and snow. The box attached to it was never recovered, leaving its origin and purpose unknown.
The official investigation concluded it was a balloon, but its source and purpose remained a mystery. Military authorities continued searching for clues without success. This case is another example of how unidentified objects raise unanswered questions, even when military forces attempt to act. The official document provides no further information, and the balloon remains an enigma lost in the history of UFOs.
