🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A round and bright object was seen in Oak Harbor, Washington, on February 14, 1959. Described as the size of a basketball, with a long tail and a vivid green color, the sighting lasted between 2 and 5 seconds. The seaplane tower operator saw it emerging from the water, which alarmed him as he feared a potential collision. Several military personnel at Whidbey also observed it independently. Initially considered a fireball, the weather data seems unrealistic, adding mystery to the case.
The official report classifies it as an astronomical meteor, but witnesses agree the object did not display typical characteristics. No photographs or radar data were taken, limiting physical evidence. Although several officers considered the sighting a natural phenomenon, the description and behavior of the object still raise unanswered questions.
